Welcome to the most, vibrant, laid-back town in all Morocco. Spend your days wandering the narrow medina streets, sharing tea with those that you meet and searching for treasure amongst the noisy, lively markets. Dine on delicious, slow-cooked tajines of lamb and figs mopped up with flat Moroccan bread. Stroll along the endless Atlantic sands and drink more tea whilst the sun sets behind the coastal islands.

At the end of such a tiring day, return home to your oasis of calm amongst the streets of Essaouira’s medina. Situated near the old town walls, only moments from the bustle of the market and the winds of the beach, our riad provides a retreat from all that is Morocco.

A tall, never-endingly upward house, built in traditional style, climbs in cool shade until one emerges on to the beautiful lilac roof terrace to be bathed in sunlight. The outwardly unimposing fa çade opens to reveal a hidden gem of a house.

Colours, textures and architecture are all Moroccan and locally created, but with a twist of European influence. Cool ‘tadelakt’ in pale tones and bright, hand-woven fabrics and hand-formed tiles contrast and complement.

The open-roofed riad – a traditional feature – brings birds which settle on the balcony and bright blue sky from within the house.

Comfortable and informal; this is an easy house to feel at home in. No sterile hotel where you are afraid to touch anything. This is your home for the length of your stay. Slip on your babouches and relax.
This derelict house has been renovated to preserve an old medina. We support the local community and enterprise by employing local labour, purchasing all materials and food locally. The house is decorated with art brought from a local community project. Information on Muslim culture and expectations is given to all guests on arrival.

The house has been renovated using recycled building materials and furniture has been commissioned by local craftspeople. We try and conserve water by laundering only on guests request and having showers. Cycle hire, public transport options are made known to guests.
